The International Roerich price “For saving castles”
In 1935, the first ever international treaty on the protection of cultural heritage was signed, establishing the priority of protecting cultural property over military necessity. It was named the Roerich Pact in honor of the author, great public figure, artist, philosopher and thinker Nicholas Roerich. The pact became the basis for UNESCO documents.
Therefore, it is a special honor for us to annually announce the Nicholas Roerich Prize and thereby celebrate those people who devote their lives to saving the historical heritage.
